Barking 50- Bridgwater

Barking pick up their first win of the season in emphatic style with a 50-0 win over Bridgwater & Albion and move into 10th place in the table.

It took the home side two minutes to take the lead with fly half Ollie Crosby going over for a 5-0 lead.

It took 20 minutes for the next score as Crosby put over a penalty goal. By half time the home side had moved 18-0 ahead with tries from No 8 James Kellard and winger Scott Shaw.

Seven minutes into the second half and the try bonus point was in the bag as the other Barking winger Tavela Kwilimbe went over and Crosby added the conversion.

Two more tries before the hour mark saw them move 37-0 ahead as full back James Reid and flanker James Ngan touched down. The final try came from Kwilimbe who completed a double late in the game and Crosby put over a 78th minute penalty goal to take them to 50 points.    

   

London Scottish 25-17 Rosslyn Park

The big game of the day goes to London Scottish with a 25-17 win over Rosslyn Park to maintain their 100% start to the season. Park suffer their second loss of the season, and they have both been away at the top two in the table.

It took 21 minutes for the games opening score as Scottish fly half James Brown put over a penalty goal and nine minutes later was converting the games opening try as centre Ian McInroy touched down. Late in the half the visitors were off the mark with full back Chris Simmons going over for his fifth try of the season and Dylan Pugh converted to make it 10-7.

Park were level five minutes into the second half with a Pugh penalty goal. Ten minutes later and the home side were over for their second try of the afternoon as scrum half Simon Amor went over and Brown converted for 17-10.

Winger Roman Piotrowski took them 12 points clear with his 6th try of the season, Brown missed the conversion but took them three scores clear with a 75th minute drop goal.

Park got the final score of the match with a try from winger Nick Canty and Pugh converted but that still left them eight points adrift and no losing bonus point.    

 

 

Henley Hawks 28-19 Richmond

Richmond Points: Try: A Simmie (66), E Rosa (11), and K Greene (15). Cons: M Hart 2 (15, 66).

Henley Hawks are third and still unbeaten after this home win over Richmond who slips down to ninth in the table.

Fly half Tom Turner kicked the Hawks ahead on four minutes but Richmond were in front seven minutes later when hooker Edward Rosa went over and four minutes later were 12-3 ahead after scrum half Kris Green went over and Matt Hart converted. Two Turner penalty goals got the home side right back in it and they went in at half time three points down.

Three minutes into the second half and the Hawks were in front with right wing Jack Shaylor going over and Turner converted to go 16-12 ahead.

Two more tries before the hour mark turned the tide in favour of the home side as prop Hugo Milford Scott and scrum half James Gaunt and Turner added a conversion to move 28-12 ahead.

Richmond responded on 66 minutes with replacement Alistair Simmie going over and Hart converted but they were still two scores behind.    

 

Lydney 16-7 Dings Crusaders

Lydney pick up their first win since the opening day of the season with this home success over Dings Crusaders who suffer a second successive away defeat.

Lydney opened the scoring on five minutes with a penalty from stand off Mark Davies. Dings replied on twenty minutes with a try from full back Neil Dipple, skipper Mike Panoho took a tap penalty on his own twenty two and fed scrum half Ricky Jones who slipped the ball to Dipple on the burst and the full back outpaced the home defence from the halfway line. Stand Off Adam Westall landed the touchline conversion.

After more stoppages and lectures from the referee Dings centre Luke Plummer was first to receive a yellow card, Davies landed two long range penalties to give Lydney a 9-7 lead at halftime.

The second half was more of the same with very little rugby played, more penalties and three more yellow cards, Mathews for Dings and Thomas and Bashford for Lydney. Westall had several penalty opportunities give Dings the lead but he was wide with all attempts much to the delight of the home crowd where Westall spent four seasons with a magnificent kicking record.

Despite being one short the home pack took control in the dying minutes of the game and after three scrums on the Dings line referee Campbell awarded them a penalty try converted by Davies. A deserved win for Lydney but definitely a match to forget for both sides.

   

Rugby Lions 20-32 Canterbury

Canterbury Points: Try: B Smith (17), C Littlechild (72), G De Kock 2 (11, 37). Pens: G De Kock 2 (3, 34). Cons: G De Kock 3 (11, 17, 37).

Canterbury make it three wins in a row with this away win at Rugby Lions and are up into fifth place in the table with a game in hand.

The visitors were ahead on three minutes when Gert De Kock put over a penalty goal eight minutes he later he scored the games opening try to put his side 10-0 ahead after slotting the conversion.

The home side were off the mark three minutes later when centre Phil Read went over and full back Matt Goode converted.

But soon after Canterbury got a second try as No 8 Benn Smith touched down and De Kock converted for 17-7. Before the break the visitors went further ahead with De Kock putting over a second penalty goal and then going over for his second try of the match which he again converted to make it 27-7.

In the second half it took 17 minutes for the opening score with Goode kicking a penalty goal, Goode then went over for a try on 68 minutes but they were still some 12 points behind. Both sides scored tries in the final couple of minutes but Canterbury left with all five points. De Kock finished the match with 22 points which took him to 40 for the season.   

 

Havant 10-46 Ealing

Leaders Ealing make it five in a row and collect a fourth successive try bonus point as Havant slip to a fifth straight defeat.

It was the home side who took the lead when fly half Stephen Claffey put over a 13th minute penalty goal but two minutes later and Ealing were over for the games opening try as centre Ali James scored and Ben Ward converted. Havant went back in front on 24 minutes when back row man Harry Heasman went over and Claffey converted for 10-7.

After that all the scoring went the way of the visitors. Ward levelled with a penalty goal and they were in front on 38 minutes when winger David Howells went over for his 7th try of the season and Ealing went in 15-10 ahead.    

The game was won in the opening six minutes of the second half as Ealing ran in three tries with Howells going on to complete a hat trick and move onto nine tries for the season as they opened up a 34-10 lead.

In the final quarter the visitors got two more ties as full back Patrick Gill bagged a brace.

 

Chinnor 20-32 Worthing

Worthing picked up their first win of the season away at Chinnor Worthing and move above them in the table, although both sides are in the relegation zone.

It took the visitors just two minutes to get the games opening score as No 8 Paul Cox went over for a try and a 5-0 lead.

Chinnor were next on the scoreboard as two James Cathcart penalty goals saw them go 6-5 ahead after 18 minutes. Winger Phillip Seymour moved them further ahead with a try on 26 minutes and Cathcart was again on target to make it 13-5.

Worthing replied two minutes later with second row Charlie McGowan going over and they went in three points behind.

Chinnor went 10 points clear in the opening minute of the second half when hooker Arthur Ellis went over and Cathcart converted to make it 20-10 ahead and a win looked on the cards.

Ben Coulson pulled three points back with a penalty goal on 54 minutes but all the action came in the final 10 minutes. Worthing in three tries to run out comfortable winners and take a try bonus point as well. The tries came form their three quarters in a five minute spell and Coulson added a couple of conversions for that all important first win of the season.
