Redruth 19-13 Launceston

Redruth Points: Try: L Vinnicombe (26), P Gidlow (55). Pens: M Scrivener 3 (19, 45, 67).

Redruth moved two points clear at the top of National Two with a six point home win over Cornish All Blacks as the two unbeaten sides in the division went head to head.

Mark Scrivener gave the home side the lead in the 19th minute with a penalty goal and seven minutes later they were 8-0 ahead after winger Lewis Vinnicombe went over for the games opening try.

Scrivener got the first score of the second half to move 11-0 ahead but Adam Staniforth got the visitors off the mark five minutes later.

But before the hour mark Redruth went further ahead with a try from centre PJ Gidlow, and were 16-3 ahead.

Staniforth pulled three points back for the All Blacks but Scrivener got the next score to keep the home side 13 points ahead, as he hot the 60 point mark for the season.

Replacement second row Steven Pape got a try for the All Blacks in the 75th minute to set up a tense final few minutes, but that was the end of the scoring and the home side took the win.  

 

Cambridge 76-3 Mounts Bay

Cambridge move into second place in the table with a comprehensive home win over Mounts Bay who remain winless after five matches.

The home side ran in ten tries and Ben Patston converted all ten and slotted a couple of penalty goals for a 26 point haul.

They scored four in the first half to go into a 34-3 half time lead and the try bonus point already in the bag.

They added six more tries in the second half. The referee was busy with four players spending time in the sin bin including three from the visitors.

There were doubles for wing Christophe Lombaard and hooker Callum Powell with Lombaard moving onto five for the season. Patston has now scored 39 points this season including 15 conversions.

  

 

Pertemps Bees 32-12 Blaydon

Pertemps Bees Points: Try: R Connolly (43), R Petty (70), R Spee (58), and S Hunt (46). Pens: M Woodrow 2 (39, 52). Cons: M Woodrow 3 (47, 59, 71).

Blaydon Points: Try: C Rayner (34), R Kalbraier (20). Cons: A Baggett (35).

Birmingham & Solihull are up into third place after a home win over Blaydon who slip to their second successive away defeat.

It was the visitors who took the lead when prop Rob Kalbraier went over on 20 minutes for a 5-0 lead. Just after the half hour mark and Blaydon went 12-0 ahead with full back Charlie Rayner going over and Andrew Baggett converted for a 12-0 lead. Late in the half the home side were on the board when Mark Woodrow put over a penalty goal.

Three minutes into the second half and the home side got their opening try as back row forward Rob Connolly went over, three minutes later and they were in front as winger Simon Hunt got his 9th try of the season and Woodrow converted for 15-12.

Woodrow added a penalty goal and then converted a try from Reece Spee just before the hour mark to make it 25-12, and the bonus point was secured.

Scrum half Rod Petty wrapped up the win on 70 minutes with a fifth Bees try.

Woodrow is the leading points scorer in the division with 70 points.       

 

Tynedale 16-15 Blackheath

Tynedale Points: Try: H Smailes (11), J Harrison (42). Pens: A Murray 2 (63, 78).

Blackheath Points: Pens: M Leek 5 (3, 23, 39, 65, 76).

Tynedale are up into eight place after a narrow home win over Blackheath.

Matthew Leek gave the visitors the lead with a third minute penalty goal. Eight minutes later and Tynedale were ahead with full back Jack Smales going over. Leek gave the visitors a 9-5 half time lead with two more penalty goals.

Two minutes into the second half and the home side were in front as centre Jack Harrison went over and it was 10-9.

Flanker Ali Murray slotted a penalty goal for the home side to extend their lead 13-9. Leek replied for Blackheath on 65 and on 76 minutes gave the visitors a 15-13 lead.

Murray settled the match two minutes later with his second of the afternoon.

  

Stourbridge 43-6 Wharfedale

Stourbridge Points: Try: A Billig (54), A Bressington (80), B Bartley 3 (25, 30, 40), T Richardson 2 (9, 13). Cons: A Bressington 4 (9, 25, 54, 80).

Wharfedale Points: Pens: M Bedworth 2 (3, 28).

Stourbridge, move into the top ten after a comfortable home win over Wharfedale who they leap frog in the table.

It was the visitors who went ahead when centre Mark Bedworth put over a third minute penalty goal. Six minutes later and Stourbridge were in front as scrum half Tom Richardson went over for a try and Ali Bressington converted for 7-3. Four minutes later and Richardson had the double completed for a 12-3 lead. The rest of the half belonged to centre Ben Barkley who ran in a hat trick of tries to help his side extend their lead to 29-6, and the try bonus point was secured.

Both Richardson and Barkley were getting their first tries of the season.

In the second half they added two more tries with Bressington getting the last one to finish the day with 13 points to move onto 63 for the season, second in the division, seven points behind Mark Woodrow (Bees). 

 

Cinderford 48-6 Southend

Cinderford Points: Try: A Macrae (22), C Simpson Daniel (73), J Hooper (64), P Kennedy (40), P Knight (4), R James 2 (50, 53). Pens: D Trigg (47). Cons: D Trigg 5 (4, 22, 50, 53, 64).

Southend Points: Pens: S Hoult 2 (33, 43).

Cinderford move into the top half of the table after a big home win over Southend who are now third bottom of the table.

It took the home side just four minutes to get on the scoreboard with scrum half Paul Knight going over and Dan Trigg converted. Winger Andy Macrea got the second try on 22 minutes as the home side double their lead. Winger Simon Hoult pulled three points back for the visitors just after the half hour mark but on 40 minutes prop Phil Kennedy went over and they went in 19-3 ahead.

Hoult and Trigg exchange penalty goals in the opening seven minutes of the half before the home side claimed the try bonus point when No 8 Rob James touched down and added a second three minutes later as they pulled further ahead.

Tries in the final quarter form Jed Hooper and debutant Charles Simpson Daniel saw them wrap up the scoring; Trigg ended the match with 13 points and moved onto 40 for the season.     

 

  

Waterloo 33-40 Westcombe Park

Westcombe Park Points: Try: D Bruce (36), G Hunter (48), P Chesters (42), T Child 2 (13, 24), T Hayman (41). Cons: G Hunter 5 (15, 25, 41, 43, 49).

Westcombe Park win away at Waterloo to move into ninth place in the table and Waterloo remain bottom still looking for their first win.

The home side took the lead on four minutes when Frank Lynch put over a penalty goal.

Nine minutes later and Combe were ahead when centre Tyrone Child touched down and Gareth Hunter converted.

10 minutes later Lynch put over a penalty goal but a minute later and the visitors were over the Waterloo line again as Child completed a double.

Lynch kept Waterloo in it with two more penalty goal to make it 14-12 after 33 minutes. Combe though got a third try on 36 minutes when scrum half Darryn Ball went over to make it 19-12.

The game was settled with three Combe tries in the opening eight minutes of the second half with No 8 Tom Hayman, full back Philip Chester and fly half Gareth Hunter, who added two conversions to make it 40-12. 

The rest of the scoring went the way of Waterloo who scored three converted tries to get within a score of the visitors with full back James O’Brien getting a brace and the referee awarding a penalty try.
