Harry Walker of Coventry has just celebrated his 100th Birthday, he is the oldest living England International. He is due to attend the England V Scotland game at Twickenham as a guest of the RFU.

He made his first appearance for Coventry aged 17 as a flanker in the 2nd XV and after two games was converted to prop. He broke into the 1st XV at 18 where he was a fixture for 20 years.

A machine tool fitter by trade, Harry’s career was interrupted by World War 2 and it was 1947 before he was first capped for England. Harry was the only player to represent England in all the 1947 & 1948 Five Nations games.  The other of his nine caps being earned against Australia in 1948.

Harry played for the Midlands against the touring Kiwis (Coundon Rd), the Wallabies (Villa Park) and Springboks (Highfield Rd). He made 30 county championship appearances for Warwickshire and also played for the Barbarians.

What a great rugby man who is still seen at Coventry home games.

There is a wonderful interview with him which I suggest you view via the link.
